These are just a few of the hitmakers who appear in the production and songwriter credits of Adam Lambert's sophomore album, "Trespassing." But it's not the impressive roster of collaborators that makes the boldest statement in the credits. It's the forthcoming set's executive producer: Lambert himself.

While it is rare for an artist to executive-produce his or her own release, Lambert, the flamboyant season eight "American Idol" runner-up, insisted on having full creative control of what he admits could be the decisive album of his career, his moment to prove himself as more than a TV-fueled seasonal sensation. "That's why I've been so obsessed and neurotic about it and why I wanted to be the executive producer and co-write a lot of it," he says of "Trespassing," due May 15 on RCA Records/19 Recordings.

"This is a big make-or-break thing for me, especially for someone who comes off of 'Idol,'" he says. "I did have a hit, which was great. That was one big step. Now what? Is that going to be it? Am I a one-hit wonder? So I wanted to get really involved in the process to make sure I was doing everything I could to create a great album." He pauses. "And I think I did."

It's a drastic change from the approach taken with the singer's 2009 debut, "For Your Entertainment," which was hastily recorded during an "American Idol" summer tour in the months following his appearance on the TV show. Despite reaching No. 3 on the Billboard 200, selling 838,000 copies (according to Nielsen SoundScan) and nabbing a top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Whataya Want From Me," the release felt rushed and was mostly a "guessing game" in terms of choosing songs that would properly portray his musical style and connect with fans, Lambert says.

This time around, Lambert, who turned 30 earlier this year, doesn't have to deal with the pressure of churning out an album quickly to capitalize on the promotional momentum of "Idol." He's spent more than a year writing new material and working closely with RCA senior VP of A&R Rani Hancock to bring on other collaborators, including Benny Blanco, Bonnie McKee, Nile Rodgers and Sam Sparro. The result is a 12-song set (the deluxe edition features three bonus tracks) of electro-dance-funk and dark emotional ballads that display a more contemporary pop sound and move away from the theatrical glam-rock and vocal showboating of Lambert's full-length debut.

"He's really made a record that's different than what he made coming off of 'Idol,'" says Dana Collins, one of six artist managers working with Lambert at Los Angeles-based Direct Management Group, which also helms the career of Katy Perry. "You get off that, you're on the treadmill and you jump into the studio and get presented with four dozen songs. You choose the ones you like, record them and tour at the same time. Then you go out and promote that record."

Lambert says the subject matter of "Trespassing" is much more personal than "For Your Entertainment." "I wanted it to reflect my social scene, not just what I knew my fans were going through," he says. "So I'm writing about my gay friends-you know, going out and getting laid. I'm in a relationship right now, so I'm exploring monogamy and a serious thing, which is really cool. But I was single before that and there's a lot of joy in that, too. So there are songs about going out and getting freaky."

Lambert also feels the new album showcases his maturity as an artist. "Going into album two, I know who I am as an artist now," he says. "The last time I felt like I had to do all this stuff to prove something. With ['Trespassing'] it's a bit more like, 'Oh, that's a dope song. That's a cool melody. That's a cool groove. That's a cool song.' Not, 'Look how high I can sing that note 30 or 40 times in one song.'"

RCA's promotional campaign for "Trespassing" includes a heavy push at mainstream and adult top 40 radio, numerous summer radio station concert bookings and a May 17 performance of Lambert's newest single, "Never Close Our Eyes" (co-written by Mars and produced by Dr. Luke), on "American Idol." To superserve Lambert's hardcore fans, known as Glamberts, the label offered preorder deluxe packages of "Trespassing" exclusively through his website, AdamOfficial.com. The most expensive of them-a limited-edition $274.99 boxed set that includes six lithographs, a deluxe version of the CD, a vinyl copy of the album and a behind-the-scenes DVD of Lambert in the studio-sold out the 100 available copies in minutes.

But even with a fan base that reaches many parts of the world, Lambert and his team say that it'll be a challenge releasing a second album without the benefit of having 20 million people seeing him on "American Idol" twice per week for three months. "I'm sure it's going to reflect in things. It's a different climb right now," Lambert says. "It's through the music that I'll have to get on people's radar. Not based on the TV show."

Direct Management Group's Martin Kirkup, whose firm began working with Lambert last summer after the singer's departure from 19 Entertainment, says the process of reintroducing the artist to the marketplace will simply revolve around getting as many eyeballs on him as possible and then allowing the music to speak for itself. That started earlier this year with performances on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno," Logo's NewNowNext Awards and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

"We feel he has good recognition because of 'American Idol,' but really when you get to your second record everything is starting off fresh. Whatever audience you brought with you from 'Idol,' whatever the perception you have-some of that remains," Kirkup says. "But basically you're now going to thrive or fail based on your own talent or skills. The most important thing we can be doing is getting people to see Adam, whether that's on TV, live or on video."

RCA VP of marketing Nick Pirovano says that Lambert is still very much in the artist development stage. "We're breaking an artist," he says. "We want him to be more than just an 'American Idol,' and that takes time."

But there's still the matter of where Lambert fits into the current musical landscape. Although he performed classic rock songs from Led Zeppelin, U2 and others during his stint on "Idol" and will front upcoming international dates with Queen, the artist mostly identifies himself as a pop act. It's been challenging finding his place in the female-dominated genre, he says.

"There's not a blueprint for me to follow," Lambert says, referencing how Justin Bieber seems to be following a path mapped by Justin Timberlake. "There are female artists I can look at that I find more in common with than the male artists, because they're blending the pop, dance and theatricality . . . but currently there aren't a lot of guys who go there."

RCA hopes to expand on Lambert's pop appeal through radio. Senior VP of promotion Adrian Moreira says the singer's strongest format is adult top 40, whose listeners tend to be females age 18-34. To build on that demographic, Lambert visited mainstream and adult top 40 stations across the country in March to meet with programmers and music directors and perform acoustically for listeners.

"With the first album you're committed so much to stuff around 'Idol' that there wasn't really an opportunity to get him into these stations," Moreira says. Additionally, Lambert will record a live performance in New York on May 15 that will later stream on more than 100 Clear Channel station websites.

The promotional campaign for "Trespassing" began in December with the release of first single "Better Than I Know Myself." Despite some national TV performances that followed the release, the single failed to garner much attention at radio, peaking at No. 18 on the Adult Top 40 chart in late April. Moreira believes the label will have more success with the uptempo "Never Close Our Eyes," which will be supported by performances on "Good Morning America" (May 14) and "American Idol" (May 17). The single goes to stations on May 28.

In lieu of immediately touring behind "Trespassing," Lambert's summer plans include eight North American radio station concerts and six overseas shows singing for Queen. Direct Management Group's Kirkup says the management team wanted to keep the artist's schedule open as press and media opportunities arise in global markets. Lambert cites the Philippines, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, the United Kingdom and parts of Scandinavia as international markets where he's had the most success. A proper tour will likely occur at the end of this year or in early 2013. The singer's last North American tour of primarily clubs and theaters in 2010 grossed $2.7 million from 30 concerts that attracted nearly 65,000 people, according to Billboard Boxscore.

Kirkup hopes that the upcoming Queen performances in Russia and Europe expose Lambert to an audience that might not discover him as immediately a pop artist. Lambert notes that there aren't any plans to perform additional concerts with Queen but says he's open to any type of collaboration with the rock band, including recording an album together like Queen + Paul Rodgers' The Cosmos Rocks in 2008.

For now, Lambert is focusing on pushing his career forward with "Trespassing." "There are people in the industry or fans who will look at that statement and say, 'But it's Queen!'" he says. "I know that, and I know it's a big honor. But the most important thing for me is to be authentic. And I'll be the most authentic doing the music I wrote."

Last week, we asked Adam Lambert fans to write their own personal essays detailing how Adam has had a positive influence on their lives. Today, as Lambert releases his new CD Trespassing, we're proud to publish our winner's moving essay. Read below for Lambert fan Antoinnette's touching story about how Adam helped her understand and grow closer to his son after he came our of the closet.

Life doesn't come with a handbook, nor does parenting. As I sit here today, I was inspired to tell you how Mr. Adam Lambert has changed my life, or rather my way of thinking, and how he has become a key to the relationship I currently have with my child. I wish I could say that everything is perfect when it comes to parents and their children, but I would be lying. I wish I could say that being a single parent is easy, but it isn't. And I wish I could say that finding out my son was gay was easy ... but I can't. Over the last few years, I've been working on the relationship I have with my son. How do I begin? With some history of course!

I will admit I was not the biggest fan of "American Idol" or Adam Lambert. I never found him very interesting -- I couldn't even see the fascination everyone had with him while he was on "American Idol." The first time I ever figured out who Adam was happened when I flipped on "Idol" during country week. I watched Adam singing "Ring of Fire" that night -- one of my favorite Johnny Cash songs. I was so upset when I first listened to Adam sing the song, because I refused to believe anyone could sing it as the great Johnny Cash. What I failed to understand was that everyone is different. As the weeks went by, I continued to watch in hopes that he would just go away but he never did. Each week the show would come on and I would get annoyed. I still couldn't see the fascination. But by the time the season of "American Idol" came to an end, Adam had started to grow on me. When Adam didn't win, in a way I was happy ... but then I was equally as sad. I was happy because very few of the "Idol" winners are heard of after they win and he was something -- or rather someone -- that I had to admit I admired. I knew he was special and he was going to change people's lives and change people's way of thinking. Little did I know he was also going to be the key that unlocked my relationship with my child.

I will spare you a lot the anger and frustration in my relationship with my son and skip to March of 2010, when he graduated from college. I was so proud because he wasn't even 18 years old yet. As a parent, all we want is the best for our children, and I wanted so badly to have a connection with him and that close bond we had when he was little. The day he finished his last class, I went to school to pick him up. I was so happy for him and wanted to do something special for his big day. I told my son I would buy him something special ... anything he wanted. To my surprise he didn't want anything except the new Adam Lambert CD, "For Your Entertainment" that was released back in November of 2009. After Adam's sexually explicit performance on the American Music Awards, I didn't want to, but my son wanted the CD. Still not sold on the idea, I asked him if there was anything else he wanted. He said no, he wanted the CD. Against everything in my heart, I bought him Adam's CD.

On our way home we opened it to take a listen. To say I wasn't interested would be a lie. I found myself listening to the songs one at a time and just being fascinated with the words. There were 3 songs on the CD that stuck out the most for me, but only one of those songs brought me closer to my son. Close enough to understand the wall he built around him ... the door he closed and locked tight hiding behind it.

"Aftermath" was the song that changed my life. It brought me close to my child and it changed my way of thinking. The song itself brought back the time when I just couldn't connect with my son. Each word brought back the secrets and lies the frustration and anger. You see, while I am a straight woman, I do have a gay son. For years he hid the real him because he felt he couldn't trust a soul. I've been brought to tears on several occasions by the very words of "Aftermath," because now, it represents to me what I didn't know then -- the number of times my son tried to commit suicide. I hear lines like, "Think of what could be if you rewrite the role you play" and "Before you break, you have to shed your armor." Those words bring me back to the day my son came to and said, "Mom I tried to overdose on pills and alcohol because I didn't think you would ever accept me for being gay. I did what I could do to try and end my life with no success."

I'm very thankful that my son is alive today and has since changed his thinking ... as have I. Our hearts and minds are connected in ways I couldn't explain. While I will always love my son, I also love music that has such a great and powerful meaning. I'd like to think that when Adam Lambert had his pen to the paper writing "Aftermath," each word brought to mind people such as my son that hid from the world behind numerous suicide attempts. I will never be able to express the gratitude I have toward Adam for being the glittery key that unlocked the door to my son. I love the idea that Adam has passion for his fans but doesn't give a crap what others say. As I conclude this I will just say that I may not have been the biggest fan of Adam Lambert nor was I ever fascinated with him. I will say that each word that was written in "Aftermath," meant the world to me when my son expressed every little secret he had.

As the date for Adam's new album Trespassing is finally here, I am so excited to see what is in store for the new chapter in Adam's life. I must admit, I will probably act like a crazy fan when I buy it, but I just love when artist express who they are through music. Thank you so much Adam Lambert! You, in a way, have been the handbook to life with a gay child. Thank you so much.

1. Trespassing - A startling, stomping, altogether tremendous opening, in which Lambert snarls "Wait 'til you get a load of me" while strutting over a Pharrell Williams beat that Michael Jackson would have loved.

2. Cuckoo - Lambert leaps from MJ to Daft Punk, with a waterfall of synthesizers raining down upon his chest-thumping party plans. The line "Gonna get out of this straitjacket!" smacks of double entendre.

3. Shady - Robotic posing leads into some harmonized funk, as Lambert requests a ticket to the underground. Third straight track with killer production.

4. Never Close Our Eyes - The album's first ballad? Nope. The emotional opening turns out to be a red herring for another supple Euro-dance anthem that recalls David Guetta's most effective singles.

5. Kickin' In - With its crazed synth intro segueing into another tightly wound, club-set banger, "Kickin' In" becomes the front-runner for the song most likely to dazzle in Lambert's live show.

6. Naked Love - It's still uptempo, but "Naked Love" exhibits a tenderness missing from the previous tracks' salacious come-ons. Perhaps it won't be a single, but "Naked Love" is vital to "Trespassing's" sense of balance.

7. Pop That Lock - "Tonight we burn it all!" Lambert professes before another cavalcade of percussive drops and piercing keystrokes cave in his voice. One of the album's few whiffs.

8. Better Than I Know Myself - The logical sequel to "Whataya Want From Me," the lead single retains its icy sheen months after it first hit airwaves, as Lambert exposes his most vulnerable tendencies in stirring fashion.

9. Broken English - A downright strange amalgamation of styles: Lambert hopscotches between R&B verses, massive pop hooks and dubstep twitches before seemingly free-falling in the bridge. It shouldn't make sense, but the singer ties it together.

10. Underneath - A revealing, piano-driven ballad that ramps up into 'epic' mode as time elapses. Sadly, this would have packed more of a wallop if it had been uniformly bare throughout, as in its first minute.

11. Chokehold - The verses float freely and let Lambert muse on past relationship transgressions. The refrains carry an industrial quality, with a guitar speaking as severely as the vocalist. The listener gets to soak it all in, blissfully.

12. Outlaws of Love - "Everywhere we go, we're looking for the sun/Nowhere to grow old, we're always on the run," Lambert laments, as he seemingly drags himself out of the club and stares bleary-eyed into the future. More than any other song here, "Outlaws" demonstrates Lambert's impressive range -- he can play the sober adult just as well as the carefree party-starter.

album Trespassing của Adam Lambert đã được No.1 tuần này trên Billboard ♥ một tin thật đáng ăn mừng XD kèm theo đó là mấy cái tin :
- Adam Lambert là nghệ sĩ công khai đồng tính đầu tiên trong lịch sử có album xếp no.1 trên Billboard (dù rằng có người bảo thế Elton hay Ricky có cả đống no.1 thì sao? đây là câu trả lời: họ chỉ có no.1 khi họ chưa công khai đồng tính, khi đã công khai thì album không thế no.1 đc nữa)
-Lần đầu tiên album của 1 cựu thí sinh Idol đã đánh bại album của một cựu thí sinh khác trên bảng xếp hạng XD
-Album của Adam vẫn bán đc 77,000 bản trong tuần đầu tiên dù rằng ít ỏi radio phát nhạc của anh và chương trình quảng bá thì chẳng được bao nhiêu (WTF bọn này làm ăn gì lạ thế =.=)

Hiện giờ anh chủ yếu đi PR ở các radio station (chắc anh phải diễn ko công quá...), tụi radio kỳ thị khủng khiếp nên ko phát nhạc của anh. Anh chưa có lịch lên truyền hình do bận làm việc với tụi radio, RCA đánh giá đúng tình hình là nguyên nhân For your entertainment ko đạt bạch kim là do tụi radio mà ra cả nên ưu tiên PR trên radio trước, còn TV lúc nào chẳng ủng hộ anh. Ngày còn dài, tháng còn rộng, quan trọng là các track còn lại: CUCKOO, SHADY, RUNNIN', OUTLAWS OF LOVE, UNDERNEATH, NAKED LOVE, TRESPASSING đều là track khủng nên sức công phá sẽ bùng nổ sau. No.1 spot trong khi chưa có single vào hot 100 chứng tỏ anh có lượng hard core fan chính hiệu. Còn 1 điều nữa là NEVER CLOSE OUR EYES chưa tung ra MV và ngày phát trên radio chính thức là 29/5. Chính chất lượng của cả album TRESPASSING làm ss yên tâm về thành công của anh.

Mấy ngày nay bức xúc vì cái tiêu đề : It's the lowest total for a No. 1 album in 2012, . As Billboard points out, "Trespassing's 77,000 start is the smallest sum at No. 1 on the chart since the tally dated Aug. 20, 2011, when Adele's 21 sold 76,000 in its 12th nonconsecutive week atop the list." F**k!
không hiểu bọn mỹ nghĩ gì mà kì thị anh đến như vậy.
